Review
I was so lucky to receive Finding Hope from Nicola Baker herself! She kindly sent her books to our library, and I’m so glad she did.
The story is full of heartwarming moments, like the birth of baby lambs and the joys of farm life. But it also shows that farming can be tough, and Ava learns a lot about herself, friendship, and family along the way.
What makes this book extra special is that Nicola Baker owns a smallholding, so the book is filled with authentic details and fun facts about farm life. It’s perfect for kids from rural areas and helps them connect with where their food comes from and the beauty of nature.
I can’t wait to read Nicola’s other books, and I know the children at our school will love them too. I definitely recommend Finding Hope for kids aged 6 to 9, and we’re planning to include it in our curriculum!

When ten-year-old Ava moves to Whistledown Farm while her parents are working abroad, she must swap city life for mud, wellies and animals. But as one catastrophe follows another, will Ava learn to love life on the farm and find hope in nature? And can a very special little lamb show Ava that when all might seem lost, hope can be found..
