Review

If you love exciting adventures, amazing places, and edge-of-your-seat mysteries, then The Girl Who Raced the World is the perfect book for you!

This story whisks you all around the globe—through the UK, France, Africa, India, Japan, America and more. You’ll travel by boat, train, sledge, and even elephant πŸ˜. As well as a great adventure, every few chapters you’ll find a beautiful world-map illustration to help you follow Maggie’s crazy journey.

The main character is Maggie, a brave and determined girl who never gives up, even though she has recently faced the loss of her mother. She’s clever, fiery, and always ready for the next big challenge, but she’s not the only great character. This book is overflowing with interesting and memorable people, each with their own unique personalities and quirks. (My favourite is of course the lovely Frenchman, Passepartout, whose mysterious past makes him super intriguing!)

This book is full of nail-biting moments—bank robberies, daring escapes, huge bets, and surprises around every corner. It’s inspired by the classic Around the World in 80 Days, but with new twists that make it exciting for modern readers.

If you enjoy thrilling adventures, brave heroes, and stories packed with fun and danger, you’ll love this book!

It is 1872 and, when Maggie Appleton's beloved mother dies, she is left with nothing but a letter for a mysterious stranger called Passepartout. With nowhere else to turn, Maggie seeks out Passepartout and, in doing so, is drawn into an adventure beyond her wildest dreams. Together with Passepartout's employer, the enigmatic Mr Phileas Fogg, Maggie journeys to Italy, India, Hong Kong, Japan and America, in a daring race against time to win the wager Mr Fogg has accepted.

But with a bank robber on the loose, an angry Inspector on their tail and unread secrets in her mother's letter, Maggie soon discovers that there is much more at stake than keeping on schedule to win the bet. Who can she really trust - and will she ever find out where she truly belongs?
