On the island of Arcosi, dragons and their riders used to rule the skies. But now they are only legends, found in bedtime stories, on beautiful murals and ancient jewellery. Then servant girl Milla witnesses a murder and finds herself caring for the last four dragon eggs. Forced to keep them secret amidst the growing tensions in the city, she begins to fear that the island's ruler, Duke Olvar, isn't all that he seems. But how can Milla and her friends keep the eggs safe when it means endangering everything she's ever loved?

Fiery friendships, forgotten family and the struggle for power collide as Milla's fight to save the dragons leads her to discover her own hidden past.

Review by Faye

I read Dragon Daughter by Liz Flanagan because the front cover was eye-catching, the blurb was enticing and I love dragons! I just saw it and thought I would give it a go.

Dragon Daughter is mythical and unpredictable. It shows that even if you are not related to people, you can still be family. This books is slightly romantic and has a few deaths, but I still found it enchanting.

I liked Milla and Tarya the most. I liked Tarya because she is bold and doesn't give up without a fight, whereas Milla is obedient and humble about everything. I also like the setting: a small island called Arcosi which is full of lots of different languages and cultures.

What stood out most to me was how even a servant girl can be special. I think this book says that it doesn't matter if you're a princess or a servant, rich or poor; it matters if you're kind, loving and not selfish.

I would recommend this book to anyone who likes dragons, KS2 readers, and if you like uncovering the past and saving the future, this book is for you!
