My Thoughts...

The Vanished Key by Jordan Lees is the final chapter of The Whisperwicks trilogy, where Benjamiah and his friends battle a blight overtaking the magical Wreathenwold. Alongside old friends and a few new characters, they navigate a dangerous labyrinth, guided by Ariadne, a magical piece of string.

This is an absolutely brilliant and powerful ending to a trilogy with loss, sacrifice and closure. It had my heart breaking and soaring, I cheered and gasped and I can’t quite believe my time with Benjamiah and his friends has come to an end!

As always, one of my favourite parts about this book is the purely magical setting which blends the human world with a mystical one. It’s full of puppet creatures, Root Folk, and Mapmakers, all facing a wild and untamed force which threatens to destroy Wreathenwold forever.

If you—or confident young readers in your class—haven’t started from book one, I’d highly recommend the whole series!!

🌟I would wholeheartedly recommend this to readers who love magic, adventure, and a heartfelt conclusion to a fantasy journey, especially fans of Skandar and the Unicorn Thief. 🌟

Blurb

The magus Manfred Tarr is on the hunt for a key – a key that has been lost for centuries and which has the power to unleash a terrible darkness on the world.

To save Wreathenwold from a dreadful fate and armed only with his magic, his courage and his best friends Elizabella, Mea and Silas, Benjamiah must set out on another impossible quest to find the Three Sisters.

This dangerous journey will take them deep into the heart of the Weird Wood – home to ragwitches, root folk and half bears – and into a fierce battle with far-reaching consequences. Can Benjamiah conquer the darkness and save Wreathenwold one final time?
