My Thoughts...
I picked up Murder Most Unladylike after a few children in my class started talking about it as their next read. I love a good murder mystery, and although I knew how popular this one is, I’d never quite got round to it. I’m so glad I did - it completely lived up to the hype, and the boarding school setting made it even better than I expected.
I absolutely loved the classic English boarding school setting and how cleverly the different parts of the school were used within the investigation. The characters are so well written - warm, charming and full of personality. Daisy, although she would be an absolute nightmare to work with in real life, is completely brilliant: confident, dramatic and wonderfully headstrong. I really enjoyed seeing how different Daisy and Hazel are and getting a peek into their friendship!
The plot is fast-paced and full of twists, with just the right amount of suspense for UKS2. I especially loved the way the suspect lists were woven into the story - it really helps you feel part of the investigation. It took me a while, but I just managed to work it out before Hazel and Daisy (woohoo!).
🌟A truly brilliant and fun read. I’d highly recommend it to anyone who hasn’t picked it up yet and I think it would make a fantastic Year 5/6 class read.🌟

At Deepdean School for Girls, Daisy Wells and Hazel Wong have set up their own detective agency. But they are struggling to find any real crimes to investigate. (Unless you count the case of Lavinia's missing tie. Which they don't.)
Then Hazel discovers the Science Mistress, Miss Bell, lying dead in the Gym. To add to the mystery, when she and Daisy return five minutes later, the body has disappeared. Now Hazel and Daisy not only have a murder to solve: they have to prove one happened in the first place.
