My Thoughts...

I read The Unfamous Diaries of Daisy Brewster: The Drama Queens straight after the first because I needed to know how Daisy’s performance went and if there was any more drama with her cousin, Maxxy.

This time, Daisy is in the run-up to her big performance… but Maxxy is still living in her room, stealing her mum’s attention and generally being a pain. As opening night gets closer, Daisy realises (with a little help from Leo) that she might actually be a bit in love with her co-star, Olivier - which becomes a slight problem when she can barely function around him. Not ideal when you’ve got a big debut performance looming…

The Drama Queens was fun as the first diary, with super simple writing and great vocabulary sprinkled throughout (which I love for building readers’ vocab in a really fun way). Just like before, I also loved the illustration style which is super cute, clear, and simple. It adds a little extra fun to the story, and helps you to picture the new characters that we meet.

It was nice getting to know Maxxy a little more in this one, but it still feels like there’s lots more to uncover - I'm definitely going to pick up the next book to find out how her new mega crush of Olivier pans out!!

๐ŸŒŸA fun, light, and easy second book - perfect for readers who enjoyed the first and want a bit more drama, friendship, and CRUSHES, or lovers of Lottie Brooks, The Overthinkers' Club and other diary-style books๐ŸŒŸ

Blurb

Daisy is back at school, but her super-celebrity cousin Maxxy is STILL sharing her room while filming for a new TV show. And it’s all anyone can talk about! Daisy’s mum is always at the film set with Maxxy, her dad is always busy with work, and her brother Leo is being a teenage tyrant. The only thing keeping Daisy calm are her drama club rehearsals. With only a few weeks to go before the big opening night, Daisy is pouring everything into her performance.

But with Maxxy being a total DIVA, sudden strange feelings towards her floppy-haired co-star Olivier, a HUGE SPOT appearing on her chin, and gossiping girls desperate for Maxxy’s attention, Daisy will have to channel her inner method actor to keep the show on the road.
