Review

Run Wild is another fab Barrington Stoke book, with clear text, accessible language and lovely illustrations. It was another big hit with my class, especially with all the wolf-lovers!

Izzy and Asha desperately need a space to call their own, away from difficult families, the Skull brothers and the trouble they bring. But the derelict building site where they stake their claim is already home to something else - a patch of wilderness they never expected, and an injured wolf that desperately needs their help. Can they reconnect with the wild and save the wolf?

This is a simple but lovely story that kept me turning the pages. If I found an injured wolf, I’m not sure I’d know what to do either! Izzy and Asha show quick thinking and hearts of gold as they work together to lead the wolf to safety.

There are also some lovely underlying themes of bullying, friendship, understanding others and forgiveness, making this a great book for starting conversations with children.

I’d recommend Run Wild to reluctant or growing readers, anyone who loves wolves, or anyone looking for a simple but sweet read
